Meet Manka, the craziest ferret girl (jill in ferret language) in the whole wide world. One day she got the idea that I was her kid (kit in ferret language). She wanted to take me to the nest she just built for us (no kidding). I was not sure how to react and so decided to go along with this as much as I could and shot this funny footage in exchange. In case you wonder how painful this was – if you avoid suddenly pulling your hand out of a ferret’s mouth, it is just slightly painful. If you pull, those razor sharp teeth will cut through your skin like butter. Mind you, she is not trying to hurt me, this is not a ferret attack. When they attack, whatever you do you will bleed badly. Interestingly, Loki (Manka’s mother) is like a pussycat, never biting anyone and her teeth are not so sharp either. This fierce attitude and killer teeth must have come from the father’s (hob in ferret language) side. Manka has become less fierce during the years but some ferrets will pose some threat no matter what you do, I guess. I never let children play with her, anyways, and usually tried to keep her away from my eyes – just in case. Last year I had an accident and could keep them anymore. I let them free around my mother’s house in the countryside – Loki, Manka and 3 kids. They stayed a while for food and shelter but then they all went away. I hope they are all well. They were great companions.
